Many people who don’t have bank accounts, debit or credit cards have turned to prepaid cards to meet their needs to buy online, pay bills, rent a car and reserve and pay for hotels. The number of people who do not have bank accounts is a staggering 40 million. Prepaid cards carry the Visa or MasterCard logo and can be used in most places a regular credit card is used. Tens of millions of dollars are loaded on these cards every year and the amount increases by large numbers annually.

Many merchants will not allow the prepaid cards to be used for monthly subscription payments, however.
